IGF-D 2025 kicks off

Trust, Responsibility, Networking: Internet Governance in uncertain times

Frankfurt, 10 September 2025

Today, the XVI. Internet Governance Forum Germany (IGF-D) begins in Berlin. Under the motto “Trust, Responsibility, Networking: Internet Governance in uncertain times”, representatives from politics, business, academia, civil society, youth, and the technical community will discuss the key decisions shaping the digital future.

The conference addresses current issues surrounding digital infrastructure, Europe’s strategic sovereignty, security, surveillance, law, and international Internet governance processes. The focus lies on networking stakeholders and jointly discussing solutions for an open, secure, and inclusive Internet.

“The IGF-D is of particular importance to us at DENIC: it provides a framework for making both national and international discussions on digital policy in Germany tangible and for bringing our national experiences into the global dialogue. In this way, we jointly contribute to a responsible and future-proof design of the Internet,” states Thomas Keller, member of the DENIC Executive Board.

Since the end of 2022, DENIC has been running the IGF-D Secretariat and is one of the main sponsors of the annual IGF-D event.
